Gymnasts from the Level 4 - 7 and Prep-Op teams were crowd pleasers during their high flying performance at Plaistow Old Home Day, Saturday, July 27, 2009. The girls demonstrated skills such as roundoff backhandsprings, back tucks, and layouts. They also performed cartwheels, roundoffs, backwalkovers, and backhandsprings on a balance beam. These skills received loud cheers and 10s from the audience. After their performance the girls helped children from the crowd through an obstacle course and showed them how to do beginner gymnastics skills such as forward rolls, handstands, and cartwheels. This made for lots of happy kids!
Some of the team gymnasts also had the opportunity to meet former gymnast Miss Greater Plaistow, Krystal Miller and discuss gymnastics with her. Krystal talked to the girls about her lifelong involvement in gymnastics and its benefits in addition to physical fitness such as focus, discipline, determination, and problem-solving – skills which will help them in the classroom and in their futures.
Back at the gym Miss Liz treated everyone to a refreshing dip in the pool! This made for lots of happy gymnasts!
