The Cape Cod Classic kicked off on Wednesday, December 28, 2010 at the Hyannis Resort & Conference Center. It was a treat having the meet and the hotel in one location. It was also fun watching the girls from different levels come to the various meets to support each other and enjoy some down time together. The pool was a particular favorite. Going room to room seemed to be higher on the list than the movie or the dance party. The Pub and High Test bingo seemed to be among the parents favorites!
Level 4
Once again the Level 4s were the starting team. Ellie and Nicole were front and center to cheer them on. The competition was stiff with several large teams from surrounding States competing. Our Level 4s were up to challenge though. The best effort award definitely goes to Jenna. Our youngest Level 4 fought through her beam routine after straddling the beam and falling forward on her ribs. Ouch that really hurt!!!
Level 7
The Level 7s competition began bright and early Thursday morning. Itwas great to see lots of OTW families from all levels in the audience to support the team.
Ellie competing in the Child Division placed 9th AA with a 34.475. Her scores were: Vault 8.775, Bars 9.1 (6th) Beam 8.4, and Floor 8.2.
Allie and Maddy competed in the Jr. Division. Allie received a huge trophy for her first place AA (35.2) and Maddy placed 8th AA with a 32.725. Allie’s scores were: - Vault 8.4, Bars 8.9 (3rd), Beam 9.3 (1st), and Floor8.60 (9th). Maddy’s score were: Vault 8.950 (4th), Bars 7.3, Beam 8.125, and Floor 8.35. Isabel placed 5th AA in the Senior Division with 34.75. Her scores were: Vault 8.8 (9th), Bars 9.15 (1st), Beam 8.2 (7th), Floor 8.625 (7th).
Level 8
The Level 8 meet kicked off mid day Thursday with lots of OTW gymnasts and parents on hand to cheer Jackie and Nicole on.
Jackie competing in the Level 8 Jr Division walked away with the 1st place AA trophy for her 35.4 finish. Her beautiful 9.2 beam routine was awarded first place as well. Jackie scored 8.65 (2nd) on vault, 8.75 (3rd) on bars, and 8.8 (4th) on Floor.
Nicole competing in the Child Division placed 7th AA with a 35.375 AA. Her awesome 9.1 bar routine, although a personal best only earned her a 7th place finish in a very tough age group. Nicole struggled with her first suk landing her first attempt face first and a knee driving into an ankle. Despite some ankle pain she landed the next one on her feet and was awarded an 8.75 (5th). Nicole scored 8.85 on beam and 8.675 on floor.
Level 10
The Level 10 meet kicked off aroun 6:00 P.M. on Thursday with Sarah and Nicole and their families in the audience to cheer the team on.
Allison tangled with the beam during warm up and had a huge raspberry on her leg clearly visible for the rest of the competition. Although that must have been painful she stayed focused and finished the meet 5th AA with a 33.4.
Alyssa’s 34.3 AA was rewarded with a huge 1st place trophy. She placed 3rd on vault (9.250), 2nd on bars (7.75) and beam (8.2), and 1st on floor (9.1.)
Level 5
Unfortunately, Sarah and her family were under the weather Friday morning and Sarah was not feeling well enough to compete. We hope the family is on the mend and able to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Speaking of weather, the weather cooperated throughout this road trip. Friday was even a balmy 50 degrees - an absolutely beautiful day to check out the vessels at Hyannis Harbor and for some sightseeing on the way back to New Hampshire!
Happy New Year. Best wishes to all for a great year!
