7s strong amid tough competition

The Level 7s were scheduled for the middle session on Sunday -- at the height of the snow storm. Only three of the team braved the blizzard to attend the meet at Atlantic. They did well against the talented teams from Brestyans, Cape Cod and New York. Mackenzie took 1st on Floor with a 9.35. Madison took 1st on Beam with a 9.175. Morgan took 2nd on Floor with a 9.30. Faced with such strong competitors, all three OTW 7s made an excellent showing.

Great job girls. Quite impressive.

OTW's 4s had not cooled off since their championship victory. They were all sizzling on Vault. Jordan's 9.575 lead the pack. Ellie scored a 9.225 and Summer scored a 9.20. Each girl on the team scored a 9-something. On Bars, Jordan led again with a 9.475. Emma and Maddy's 9s added to the team score. On Beam, Maddy set the pace with a 9.25. Amazing job, 4s. Keep it up!

5s gaining strength

OTW's Level 5 team added a new member, Sydney, who moved up from Level 4. They also added a bit to their team scoring from their last meet. No one event dominated, with high-points scattered throughout. Madison, Hope and Sydney led the way on Vault. Hope's Bar routine was outstanding, scoring a 9.35. Emma scored her best of the meet on Bars too. On Vault, Hanna and Allie set the pace with a 9.175 and 9.375. Cassie, too, scored her best of the meet on Beam. On Floor, Hanna scored a 9.10. Emma and Madison weren't far behind.

In the All Around, Hope took first in her age division. Hanna took 2nd. Allie and Emma took 3rds. Madison took 4th and Sydney 6th, so OTW was well represented on the winners' platform.

Good going girls.

Level 6 team getting stronger

OTW's Level 6 team also added a new member, Emily. They also upped their collective team score a bit too. Nicole pushed up her scores on Vault, Bars and Floor, adding over a half point to her All Around. She took home the 3rd place medal in her age group. Jackie had a couple wobbles, but took home the 1st place medal on Beam with a 9.375. Ally improved her scores on Vault and Bars. She took home the 3rd place medal on Beam. Anne took 2nd on Vault with a 9.00 and 1st on Beam with a 9.10, securing 2nd in the All Around. Emily got right to work taking 3rd on the Vault and 2nd on Bars.

Go sixes!

Level 8s shine despite storm

It was a dark and stormy night. No, really. It was. Several inches of snow, followed by freezing rain, reduced attendance at the Sunday evening session. Many gymnasts, and a couple of clubs didn't show. Nonetheless, all the OTW 8s were present and accounted for. There were some ups and downs in their routines, but overall, the Level 8 team increased their team score by over a point.

On Vault, Kayla impressed the judges with her Tsuk, scoring a 9.50 and taking 1st place. On Bars, Alyssa scored a 9.55. Shilanna took 1st, Jess 2nd and Melinda 3rd. On Beam, it was Jess in 1st with a 9.225, Shilanna 2nd and Courtney third. Allison took 2nd in the younger age group. On Floor, it was Jess again in 1st with a 9.15, Courtney 2nd with a 9.125 and LaNaya 3rd with a 9.10. Many of the girls improved their All Around scores. Jess took 1st, Shilanna 2nd and Kayla 3rd. In the younger group, Alyssa took 2nd.

This team has a lot of star power.

Level 9 and 10's first meet

OTW's Level 9 and 10 gymnasts had their first meet of the '07-'08 season this Sunday, up in Bow. It wasn't quite a full meet for them, it was a good start. Kenna scored her best on Vault and Floor. Becca, still working back to form from a sprained ankle, competed on only Bars and Beam. She took 1st on Bars.  Bri took 1st on Vault with a 9.30 and 1st on Floor.

The OTW Level 5 team has been working hard on their skills and made a good effort at this year's Winter States. Each of the team posted a 9 in one event. In the 9-10 year old age group, Allie's 9.40 made her the state's silver medalist. Hanna's 9.35 on Floor made her the state champion. Emma's 9.0 on Floor placed her 4th in the state.
